Frequently asked questions
Does Noor work without the internet?
Yes. Prayer times, the Qibla compass, Tasbih, Du'ās and reading the Qur'an all work fully offline. Only optional extras — streaming recitation audio and finding nearby masjids — need a connection.
My prayer times look slightly different from my masjid. Why?
Different communities use different calculation methods and angles. In Settings you can choose from 25+ methods (such as Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi and more) and adjust the Asr calculation, so Noor matches your local masjid. Times should always be verified with your masjid where possible.
How do I set or change my location?
Allow location access for automatic, precise times, or set a city manually. You can change this any time in Settings. If you deny location, Noor keeps working with your chosen city.
How do I add the widget or the Apple Watch complication?
Widget: touch and hold your Home or Lock Screen, tap the + (or “Customise”), search for Noor, and add the next-prayer widget. Apple Watch: open a watch face, press and hold to edit, tap a complication slot, and choose Noor to show your next prayer and countdown. Make sure the Noor watch app is installed from your iPhone's Watch app.
The adhan or notifications aren't playing.
Check that notifications are enabled for Noor in Settings → Notifications, that your device isn't in silent/Focus mode, and that prayer alerts are turned on inside the app. Adhan sound plays through your device's ringer volume.
How do I back up my data or move to a new phone?
In the app's settings, use Back up to save a file with your tracker history and preferences, then Restore from that file on your new device. Your data never passes through us — the backup goes wherever you choose to save it.
How do I delete my personal data?
Use “Forget me” in Settings to erase your name and personal data from the device. Deleting the app also removes everything, since nothing is stored anywhere else.
Can I print or share a Ramadan timetable?
Yes. Noor generates a beautiful one-page Ramadan fasting timetable for your location that you can share or print straight from the app.
Is Noor really free, with no ads?
Yes. Noor has no ads, no subscriptions to use its core features, and no accounts. It was built as a sadaqah jāriyah for the ummah.
